A comedy ballet of weighty elegance and adorable humour
The Big Ballet
Comedy show in 2 Acts
The Big Ballet was established in 1996 by top Russian choreographer, Panfilov. As a young man Panfilov had secured his position as one of the most influential choreographers in modern ballet. Never one to shy-away from controversy, he decided to prove two things to the world; firstly, that people of larger build are able to move with similar grace, dignity and flare as traditional dancers, and secondly, that he would be able to create a professional ballet troupe from dancers with no previous experience.
A ballet like no other ever seen in the world before, The Big Ballet is an ensemble of 16 Corps de Ballet dancers, each weighing no less than 200 pounds and united in a common cause; not to lose a single pound.
Performing together with professional male ballet dancers ‘Fighting Club’, these ladies enchant their audiences with three different classical and modern ballet pieces in a hilarious comedy show full of fun and astonishing choreography, proving that you shouldn’t take life, or yourself, too seriously.
