It was 135 years ago when for the first time the world listened to “Swan Lake” music by the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. From this point the world of ballet would never be the same again. Completely changing the landscape, this ballet was staged countless number of times in almost all parts of the world. Swan Lake became the present symbol of classical dance. Even if a person was never in a theatre before in his life, he would have heard of “Swan Lake”. It became the dream of every little ballerina to be able to dance the part of Odette and to be transformed into a white swan.
Throughout the history of different productions, libretto and choreography has always changed to affect the balance between good and evil, love and betrayal, feelings and passion, light and dark. Throughout the time, this ballet has become the standard by which the art of dance is described in any generation.
